Privacy and data protection

How is your information used?

Information you provide on this website may be stored and used to provide services to you.

We require an email address to identify the account holder. This is not shared with other websites or service providers. It is used to send you notifications about your account and to perform administrative tasks, such as resetting your password. You have the option to prevent all email notifications via your settings.

Communication channels created on this website require a name and photo or avatar. If you do not specify an avatar, a default avatar will be selected. The name, avatar and a link to the channel website will be shared with other servers and services to refer to that identity. The name does not have to be your real name, and the photo or avatar does not have to resemble you.

Any other information you provide on this website is optional.

As a social communication and cloud storage service, you typically use this website to share information with others. We offer a number of privacy options to restrict this sharing to only the connections you choose.

Processing of your information

Processing of your information is limited to the storage of that information. We MAY keep logs to diagnose software problems and to maintain the security of the system. These logs are routinely deleted after a few days.

We MAY (if you have given this permission) attempt to suggest friendships or connections based on publicly available information from analytics about your connections. This is currently the most advanced data processing on this website. You can restrict access to this information if this processing is undesirable.

If specified, we may use your gender to formulate text messages in your native language, e.g. "Bob commented on his post."

In all other cases, your data will be stored under the privacy policies you have specified and will only be shared with those you have specified it for.

We do not share your private information with third parties or analyse your behaviour or personal characteristics. We do not engage in advertising or business relationships with advertisers.

We MAY be required or compelled to disclose the information you provide to third parties for the purpose of criminal or legal proceedings. If it is possible, we will notify you in this event.

Access to your information

Some communications are shared with other websites. Those using the same software usually have similar privacy policies.

You may see embedded videos and links to other websites as part of your daily activities on this website. This MAY expose you to monitoring by external services such as (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter and Google. Each website operator can configure whether embedded content is allowed.

Any further access to your personal and stored files is under your control.

Our storage of your data is under your implied consent through your continued use of the service. You may withdraw this consent at any time. Upon deletion, we will remove any data that belongs to you. The deletion process may take several days as we make a good faith effort to delete your data from all affiliated websites that have received a copy.

All data and files stored for a communication channel can either be downloaded for archival purposes or transferred to another compatible website.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA), you have a number of rights in relation to your personal data.

You have the right to request the rectification or erasure of your personal data, the right to restrict processing, to object to processing and, in certain circumstances, the right to data portability.

If you have consented to the processing of your data, you have the right (subject to certain conditions) to withdraw that consent at any time without this revoking the lawfulness of the processing prior to your consent.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority if you consider that we have not complied with the requirements of the GDPR or DPA 18 in relation to your personal data.

Operator information according to § 5 TMG

Daniel "PepeCyB" Hagemeister-Biernath 6527 Nagybaracska, Zrínyi Miklós utca 74, Ungarn

1. Preface

Pericles Hub is an installation of the software of the Hubzilla project. The source code of the software is openly available for anyone to view, download, use and distribute.

Hubzilla is a decentralised social network and content management system that allows users to share content, exchange information and have fun.

2. Liability for content, links and everything else

The operator of the platform wishes to ensure a free exchange of information. The liability for content created by users - posts, messages and more - lies with the user. The operator is in no way liable.

Users are requested not to publish content that violates laws applicable in the Federal Republic of Germany or internationally. If content violates laws and the operator is made aware of this, the operator will contact the user, also publicly, and ask for clarification of the problem and, if necessary, deletion of the content. If there is no other possibility, the operator will delete the content.

In addition to the removal of contributions relevant to criminal law, the operator reserves the right to remove content which is on the edge of legality or which cannot be clearly classified, after giving notice. This definition includes in particular but not exclusively pornographic (and possibly erotic) depictions of minors, even if these do not meet the legal definition of "child pornographic writings".

3. Liability for failures and data loss

The operator makes every effort to operate the platform as free of interruptions and losses as possible. However, no liability is assumed for this.

4. Copyright law

The copyright for texts, images and other media that a user can upload to Pericles Hub remains with the user. A transfer to the operator of the server does not take place.

If a user knowingly or unknowingly violates valid copyright, he or she must be notified of this. Contact details can be obtained from the operator.

5. Privacy

It is important to the operator to protect the data of the users. No data will be evaluated by the operator or passed on to third parties, unless the disclosure is legally enforced. In such a case, the following data may be passed on:

  • Username
  • E-mail address
  • IP address and time of last login

The operator cannot make any statements for data sent to other Hubzilla nodes or to external services such as Twitter. Here, the data protection regulations of the respective platform must be observed.

Unfortunately, nothing is perfect, not even Hubzilla. The operator can therefore not exclude the possibility of data being accessed through security gaps and attacks on the systems. In the event of data loss, the operator will inform the users.

6. Terms of use

  • Harassment, stalking and/or doxxing are not permitted.
  • National Socialist propaganda, Nazi symbolism or promotion of the ideology of National Socialism are prohibited.
  • Calls to acts of violence are prohibited.
  • Excessive advertising and spam are not welcome.
  • Content that is illegal in Germany or Hungary is not permitted.
